Dr. Radhika Kotecha is currently working as a Professor & Head of Information Technology Department and Chairperson - Board of Studies in IT at K. J. Somaiya Institute of Technology, Mumbai, Maharashtra (an Autonomous Institute Affiliated to the University of Mumbai). She is also the Member - Board of Studies in IT at the University of Mumbai. She holds a Ph.D. & M.Tech. with specialization in Artificial Intelligence from Nirma University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and possesses a thorough understanding of engineering education as well as accreditation and ranking frameworks.
Driven by a sincere commitment to societal advancement through research and development, Dr. Radhika has spearheaded the development of digitization and research-based technological solutions, implemented both locally and nationally. Notable projects include the Digital Health Card for Schools of Somaiya Trust, the AI-Powered Heatwave Watch System in collaboration with the India Meteorological Department, the Online Membership Application & Management Portal for the Indian Society for Technical Education, Weather-based Load Forecasting using AI for Tata Power, and a couple of educational process automation solutions for K. J. Somaiya Institute of Technology.
Dr. Radhika was conferred the S. K. Somaiya Award for Promising Faculty-Higher & Technical Education by Somaiya Vidyavihar, the Best Social Impact Project of the Year Award by the Computer Society of India, the EduTech Leadership Award, Excellence in Teaching Award, and Mentoring Award by ISTE. She has been recognized as an Innovation Ambassador by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) since 2020. Dr. Radhika holds 2 books, 1 patent, 3 copyrights, and 40 research papers to her credit. She is the Convener of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at her workplace and has also been mentoring IICs of 10 other institutions in India under the Mentor-Mentee Program of AICTE and MIC.

Weather-based Short-Term Load Prediction using Artificial intelligence – for Tata Power — with india Meteorological Department, Maharashtra State Load Despatch Centre
instantaneous electrical load forecasting system that enables power companies to plan their daily operation ahead of time, avoid any disruptions to their customers and evade incurrence of additional costs — considers meteorological characteristics of the forecasting day along with the historic load as well as weather data and applies AI/ML algorithms to learn load consumption patterns. Focuses on SDG 11.
