Cooking is an art of creativity. However, scientists believe that, in order to create a perfect product, one needs to explicate the molecular structure of ingredients. It’s axiomatic to say that cooking is science, but there’s no way to separate out the essence of creativity from it. With thousands of ingredients available, and millions of ways to combine them, colossal amounts of recipes could be generated. And yet a very small fraction of this is exploited by us. This strongly exhort the need of a principle to arrange ingredients to yield unique flavor combinations. Bon Vivant is a cooking app with integrated machine learning and data mining approaches. The background of this project is the hypothesis of Flavor Network and Food Pairing. The hypothesis sates that ingredients sharing same chemical flavor components blend well to produce delightful recipes. The app helps cooks explore and generate delicious delicacies, utilizing surprising ingredient combinations that human alone might never envision of. The motive of the system is to map recipes from ingredient space to flavor space. Bon Vivant is a digital platform that enables users to explore nutritious recipe varieties based on their flavor preference and nutritional requirements.
